I'd like to do borderless prints on fine art paper. The printer won't let me. I've tried trawing the net and have found some suggestions as to why it's not allowed ad how to do it. No definitive reason(s) no suggested fixes have worked. Anybody know??
My Pro 9000 allows me to do it. Email Canon-they take a couple of days to answer but they have sorted out my colour management problems with a new driver. Its worth asking and I have found them very helpful on all occasions-and polite. Good luck.

I don't know about the MarkII version, but the original 9500 wouldn't print on fine art paper unless you had a 37mm margin top and bottom on every page (regardless of the size of the sheet). Canon reckoned that if they let you have a smaller margin, the print quality wasn't high enough. I understood that they'd fixed this in the MarkII, but perhaps they haven't.

The Pixma Pro 9500 mkII, just like the original Pixma Pro 9500, invokes "Margin 35" (35mm) for all fine art paper.
I undertstand that such papers can curl at the edges - and I'm guessing can even casue ink spills onto the platten.
The only workaround I know of is to choose Matte Paper when using Fine Art paper. This allows borderless prints, which I have done, with no discernable problems.
Red River Paper (in the USA) actually uses the Matte Paper setting in its profile for Aurora Fine Art paper, and hence can be printed to the edges.
One thing to note however is that borderless prints are of no great benefit if the picture is to be framed, since you loose a small part of the picture anyway, either under the frame, or under the mount. These days I leave a small border on all my fine art prints that are to framed.
The quality of the prints from these printers is stunning, and my only other gripe is that they won't take paper on a roll to enable large panoramas to be printed. In all other respect they are terrific. If you're not going to be printing for a while, at least print off a test page every couple of weeks to keep the print head clear of dried ink. This is the voice of experience talking. A new print head will not give you much change from £100.

Hi and thanks for all the replies. Maybe I shouldn't have said borderless but I would like to be able to use more of the paper - especially when printing on A4 where the border looks too big. My immediate problem is that I ordered a frame and mount before I had the printer. Using fine art A3 paper I can't get the print big enough. I just need to get another 1/2 inch lengthwise!
I'll try the "matte paper" workaround and hope the colours come out right. The prints I've done on fine art (and glossy) are exceptional.
Thanks for the reminder on the blocked heads. I read one suggestion to make up a word document with several lines of text in different colours and print that off once a week. Still leaves problem with the different blacks though.

Canon Fine Art paper is available in A3+ (13" x 19"). Presumably this would get you your extra half inch?

Thanks again for the suggestions. I've finally got a decent print using A3 Hahnemuhle Fine Art smooth photo rag paper with a half inch border! I used the matte paper setting and expected the colours to be rubbish. It's OK.
I'll finally be able to get it in the frame and hang it up.
I'll try to contact Canon re the borders but when I last read through forums the professionals weren't getting any answers back.
In the meantime I'll just do like the printer tells me
