    Leica D lux 4

I am thinking of getting a leica d lux, I already own a Nikon d80 (most Used camera), and have an F55 as back up body plus various other film cameras. My compact digital used when want to travel light is a pentax optio V10, gives average pictures but has a habit of under exposing when light levels drop or overexposing on bright days. Would you advise I go for the Leica as my travel light option seems to hav all control of slr in a compact body which is ideal for what i want.

Not sure if you know this but the Leica D-Lux 4 is basically the same as the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 - but nearly twice the price. (see here for an independant blog comparison). For a Lumix test review see here . I've just bought one and it's brilliant.

Unless, of course, you're a badge snob

(in which case, buy the Panasonic and then the Leica leather case. )

A quick search shows that Jacobs have a shop in Leeds. Bit pricey though. I bought mine from Bristol Cameras over the internet (you can also order over the phone). Arrived in 5 days.
Note that the camera comes without an SD card or a case so you will have to factor that into the total price. (I bought one of the bundle deals which ends up at a similar price to the camera alone at Jacobs or Jessops) .

Well I know they sell prints and the like but it's news to me that they sell cameras too but I think you mean Camerabox.co.uk - and yes, they are cheaper but reviews seem to be 50:50 with those who had good service like you and those who found their money taken but no product for weeks, difficulty getting refunds and some grey imports with no warranty, etc. "You make your choice......."
