James May on the edge of space

    Wednesday 20th Jan - BBC2 7:30pm.

If you didn't catch this last time around, do watch. Some awesome footage during Captain Slow's U-2 flight. One of the (increasingly) rare shows that make the license fee worthwhile.

Thanks Tim, I'll take a look at that. Having spent the last five years without a TV I don't think I've missed that much. However, I've been watching some of James May's programmes about toys and machines and love them.

So they nearly killed Hamster in a jet propelled bogey, and now flown May in a vintage high altitude aircraft with fuel tanks like sieves. What are they going to do with that irritating Clarkson?

Drop him from a great height?
He really is a thoroughly dislikeable person.
Remember the incident a while ago where he was photographed by a member of the public using a cell phone while driving?

The guy is a complete ar**`ole,IMVHO

Was the upstanding member of the public driving whilst shooting the picture?

If Clarkson had said don't drive and use the phone he'd be a hypocrite, if not then............ basically what makes him worse than any number of people we can all see whilst out and about driving while holding a phone.

Me too, but I was disappointed that it seemed to have been edited down to fit the wretched slot. There was a lot missing that I remember from the first time around.

Exactly Tim. Clarkson is a caricature, one he's developed over many years because he knows being controversial and deliberately un-pc sells. Anytone who takes him seriously needs to take a step back and treat him more like a fictional character than a real person. I sat at the table next to him once while on holiday and noticed two things, firstly, he seemed like just a normal bloke out having lunch and second, he had a Nikon F80 so the 'real' Clarkson obviously had some taste back then.
