Pentax k-m - Problem with red hues - Please Help me!

I got a Pentax K-m for christmas but all of the photos I take have strong red hues to them, but no blue or green so the photo looks like its black and white with strong red highlights. I'm really very new to all of this and have no idea where to start with trying to rectify this problem.

    Many thanks in advance!

Possibilities (maybe - but I have a GX10/KD10, so may not be)
    - Colour temperature balance incorrectly set?
    - The camera has "trick filters" to give different effects, and one of these had been selected?
    - You have a faulty camera?

It could well be that the camera has been accidentally set to take Black & White photographs with the internal Infra Red filter applied. This would create the effect described.

If you look in your manual for 'Filter Effects' it should tell you how to turn it off.

On my camera (not an k-m) you have to do the following:

    Press Function (Fn)
    Press the OK button
Check what it says. If it says 'BW' then use the left or right joystick buttons to change it to something else (Natural, for example).
    Press OK button again

Hopefully this will solve your problem.

You do not say if the photos are taken indoors or outdoors.
If you have the wrong white balance set, this may account for the reddish tint, but the previous suggestion sounds more likely.

    Hi Andrea_Louise,

Firstly, welcome to the AP Forums and, secondly, if you could post one or more
photos (showing the ill effects), the good folk here will be able to offer even more
succinct advice. By what I read in your inital post, I would think it is something to
    do with digital filters ---
Digital Filter Rec. mode: Toy camera, High contrast, Soft, Star burst, Retro, Extract colour Playback: Toy camera, High contrast, Soft, Star burst, Retro, Extract colour, Illustration(Pastel, Water colour), HDR, B&W, Sepia, Colour, Slim, Brightness, Custom
    -- which
can be found "by clicking here "

Also, if the camera is continuing to do this and you don't think it is a White Balance issue, go the
menu, scroll over to the "Tools" section and scroll down until you come to "Reset All" .. select it
and do it ..... and this will reset the camera back to it's "factory settings".

Hope this helps a little bit

    Cheers,

    Jack

Maybe Hoya have a ninja hit squad for taking out those who criticise their cameras. That's why DPR gave the K-x a glowing report.

Check here at Pentax User UK

and here she (possibly) is at: hitched.co.uk

In fact, she (or her name/handle) seems to be quite popular around google: A google search of AndreaLouisea

Well at least here she admits it was digital filters that caused the [supposed] problem so we can rest easy that we all had the answer so: 'job well done'.

I'll just remember not to respond to any more of her posts

Perhaps, if she posted in so many places, she simply forgot where and left us out by mistake. Easily done. If she comes back then I think we should be our usual friendly selves and help her.

We also learn from the replies as well remember!
