    FFB

My 7d has just started giving me the FFB problem, seeing as though this is a `Known` problem,is this repairable through the makers warranty?

can I get it done here.

or will I have to go through Sony?

    Gordon,

Not sure about the warranty repair but believe that there is still a good will element still happenning, camera repair workshop only does Minolta film gear, the digital side and the later Dynax cameras are dealt with by JP Service Solutions, Johnsons Photopia ltd., Hempstalls Lane, Newcastle under Lyme, Staafordshire, ST5 0SW, tel 01782 753366 email kmsupport (at) jpss.co.uk
There is also a dedicated helpline phone no for KM owners tel 0870 0104107, which may be your first port of call.
Let us know how you get on 'cause my 7D has been also plagued with the FFB problem, I just got round it by switching on, firing a shot, switch off and on then problem sorted, delete blank frame and carry on, but since the 900 I only use the 7D as a back up

    Thanks Ron.

On the front page of their website, they say.

Having worked for 40 years in the photographic industry, Dave Boyle started The Camera Repair Workshop in 1991. We spent 15 years repairing as sub-contractors for Konica Minolta, and will continue to repair all models from the SRT to the latest Digitals.
    I have also contacted

    http://www.johnsons-photopia.co.uk/J...lutions_17.php

who do (according to other forums) a free repair for this problem.

Will let you know what they both come back with

Have dealt with David when I had a sticky shutter in my XE-1 and the service/work was first class wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

    Re:*** FFB Update***

I have had replies from both places

    Reply from www.camerarepairworkshop.co.uk

The cost to replace the faulty shutter unit on your Konica Minolta 7D camera will be £90.00 labour + £56.00 for parts + £8.00 return post.
    Regards Dave.

If your camera has the "1st. frame blank problem", we will repair free of charge courtesy of Konica Minolta/Sony. Unfortunately, we are unable to be absolutely certain of the problem until we have examined the camera. If it is not the "1st. frame blank problem", we will provide an estimate and if this is rejected there is a "return unrepaired" carriage cost of £6.00 plus VAT .

Cheers Gordon, looks like I'll be contacting Johnsons and sending the 7D in it's still a good camera and a useful backup for the 900
