I have both these printers. THe Pro 9500 I use occasionally for pigment prints. Expensive to run, but doesn't waste a lot of ink ( but don't change cartridge just when warning to get replacement ready still has 20% ink in it.
The good news - well I didn't use it over summer, turned on and first print out perfect after 6 months standing. Didn't even use much ink getting ready. For a pigment printer brilliant. HP's equivalent would tell you to replace ink set.
Pro 9000 head failed after quite a lot of use, Canon contacted and agreed to supply new head foc whick I can fit (cost is £80 to buy). Don't have expensive return to base of Epsons. Yes these printers are qirky and have some annoying traits such as print margins and no pano paper, but for a good A3+ printer they are both good, and the dye inks in the 9000 give an incredible range of colour for a print.
