A happy new year to all Leica owners new and old. May the Red Dot keep you togging throughout the new decade, and may Leica give M8 owners a firmware upgrade to allow us to maanually select non coded older lenses (like they have for M9 owners.

Be yourself you know its true and in the end whats left is you.....

Well, I reckon we actually have you hooked Barney - special side trips to Mayfair and all that.
Apart from that you are a pretty decent chap, a very good snapper and fit right in to this place.

Really Tim, are those ne'er do wells actually allowed to own Leica now?
Oh dear, oh dear, first global warming and now this?

Oh Peter, had Leica got their act together and managed to get the X1 out in time I may indeed have been hooked, but alas, Miss Panasonic caught my eye and I am bisotted with her for the time being.

Oh Peter, you never were a good judge of character and you wouldn;t know a good photo if it was blown up to 8' by 6' and you were hit over the head with it!

Besotted? I don't think so! Moderately satisfied perhaps and then less so as newer iterations of the camera are introduced
I agree entirely that Leica should have 'got their act together' with the X1 - a really silly announcement when the camera was nowhere near ready to go.
On the other bits, I reckon I can judge a character as well as anyone and you do not make my 'complete tit' list at all - although you may if you bash me over the head with an 8 foot print.
Your snaps I have seen and like - end of!

No, far closer to besotted than mildly satisifed. The only improvements I can see for the GF-1 won't happen, i.e. a decent optical viewfinder in the same sized body, in body OS and maintaining AF & aperture with Nikkors via an adaptor. As such, my expectations are set and have been more than met. I can't see how I would ever need better image quality than the GF-1 and 20mm produces for the pictures I want to take with it. If I do need 'better' quality, then I've got my D3, D300 and Nikkors to use.

There was a chance that I'd have some loose reason to be associated ith this board, but in a fleeting moment of common sense I've talked myself out of spending £600 on a Leica 45mm f:2.8 for the GF-1.

I agree entirely that Leica should have 'got their act together' with the X1 - a really silly announcement when the camera was nowhere near ready to go.
Well, the price would have been a sticking point anyway. The X1 would have to be a ridiculously good camera to warant spending twice the cost of a GF-1 on it.

On the other bits, I reckon I can judge a character as well as anyone and you do not make my 'complete tit' list at all - although you may if you bash me over the head with an 8 foot print.
I won't feel agreived, my name tops many a 'complete tit' list already!

I met up with an erstwhile member of this here forum, and this here board in particular, for a pint in Leeds before xmas. He made me chuckle when he said "I thought you'd be an arse but you're actually all right"

Edit: I should also add that he is also more that 'mildly satisfied' with his new GF-1 and 20mm lens combination.

Your snaps I have seen and like - end of!
Thank you Peter, my false modesty is only a ruse to garner more praise from you. I have to say though that while I'm relatively pleased with the quality of my output at the moment, it's quantity I'm having issue with at the moment. I have resolved to go out and shoot (and share) far more this year.
