    K10D Firmware

I've just tried to update the firmware on my K10D for the first time. I gave an SD card to someone with the instructions on how to download v1.3, which he swears he has done. But on inserting the card into the K10D and switcing on while pressing and holding the menu button, nothing seems to happen and I still appear to have firmware v1.0.

    Any ideas, anyone?

I can only offer the following:
    1) Did you format the SD card first and is it blank apart from the file named below?
    2) Did you unpack the .exe file? - this file: Fwdc183b.bin should be the one on the SD card - in the root directory and not in any other folder on the card.

    Re: K10D Firmware

John, you have saved my Christmas.

I had formatted the SD card before I gave it to my friend to download the update from Pentax but my K10D didn't want to know. Eventually I plugged the card and its reader into my own new computer, which isn't yet connected to the internet, and opened the download which gives 2 separate files, a readme and the firmware itself (fwdc162b.bin rather than the fwdc183b.bin which you quoted - are you a K20D user downloading later updates, perhaps?). As you say, the key thing then is to delete everything else on the card: the original file, the readme and the folder which opening the original file creates. The card will then upload the update to the camera.

So now I have wireless flash, should I require it, but what I'm particularly looking forward to is using my new 16-50 with its own motor rather than the one in the body: much better, I'm told.

    Re: GX10 Firmware

Same process but the file you download from the Samsung website is FWDC173B.zip, which unzips to give FWDC173B.bin.

The update from the previous V1.20 to V1.30 appears to work fine
