    GF-1 firmware update problem

My body updated OK but I can't make it update any of the lenses. Their online instructions seem to be the same for both body and lens!

I've got all the .bin files on the SD card, and even if I change lenses and try again it doesn't seem to recognise the fact that there's an update for the lens!

Note that at the beginning of the instructions they state to update the body first, but following the text seems to indicate the body update should follow the lens update.

Anyone updated body and multiple lenses successfully?

    Thanks.

OK - I've worked it out.

You can only have ONE binary in root at the same time - it's not clever enough to match lens type to the right binary.

So you have to change lens and change to appropriate binary in SD card - lots of car removals/swap files/eject card from reader/replace in camera when you have several to update!

    But all done OK now.

Damien, it's better to post the answer rather than just leave it. Then if anyone else searches for the answer to same or similar problem, it's there!

It would be helpful if the Panny update site had the instructions for the multi-lens scenario - or perhaps they don't think anyone is foolish enough to own more than one of their lenses? :-)

Do you need a Panasonic body to update Panasonic lenses? Also will updated Panasonic lenses benefit from being updated if they are used on an Oly body? This may not be just a theoretical question.

It had to be ... for the simple folk who used it!

    Sorry Peter, couldn't resist!

Oh thanks a bunch Barney. I can see I need to review my previously mentioned list.
Mind you I would be very happy to be as 'simple' as, say, Brassai or Weston.

Well, I did question your judgement originally!

Mind you I would be very happy to be as 'simple' as, say, Brassai or Weston.
The funny thing is, that to me digital is simple, while film is complicated (when you do your own D&P)
Either way, the results can be simply stunning.

With that statement you are right on so many levels.

Nah, I'm still down with the yout', Peter, innit.

I'm a huge fan of film, not using it but rather looking at the results others can get from it.
