    Free flash with ep-1

Olympus are giving away a free flash with the ep-1 between 12 Dec and the end of Jan 2010. See here

I think that's really unfair..I was one of the first people to buy the EP-1 and I didn't get a free flash...

It's because they forgot to build one in when they designed the camera.

I'd like a free flash too... on the other hand, unlike the people buying one between 12th Dec and the end of January, I've benefitted from having a few more months to play with the camera, take pictures, and generally enjoy myself. Plus I don't really use flash...

It is, I suspect, a move to counter the popularity of the Panasonic GF-1. I signed up for the news feed prior to the launch of the EP-1 and shortly after the launch of the GF-1 Olympus were offering free hotel stays with each EP-1 bought.

It will be interesting to see how the EP-2 rates and sells.

Probably not to counter the GF-1 to be honest, probably just to get units shifted because people are waiting for the E-P2!
    Thanks

EP2 has the viewfinder and in body stabilization but it is still obese, Now add the oled slim display and a bit more sophistication in the design to to slim it down and I will buy, This format has some way to go and the first company to get it right is going to sell a million.

I doubt it. The EP-2 is not a replacement for the EP-1 so no need to reduce stock levels.

I still think people will be waiting for the EP-2. People who want an Olympus 4/3rds, would probably have bought the e-P1 but the E-P2 was anounced and they like the sound of it.
    Thanks

So was I but they gave me rather a nice pen which I like and it's only unfair that the E-P1 costs less than when we bought it and there's something for nothing. But that's life.. I'm happily using a cheap Jessops 150A flash (that I also use with my Voigtlander Bessa).
