I welcome comments and critique on both the site and the pics.

I'd quite like to be able to put a link to it in my forum sig, so can any teckies tell me if I can just add the

    <a href="http://www.amateurphotographer.co.uk" target="_blank">Amateur Photographer</a>

link into my links section to count as a reciprocal link?

    Very strange...

    Try the www.philwinterbourne.com

I switched hosting so perhaps the new DNS hasn't fully populated yet?

I like the layout, and the way that the all the links seem to come on to the main page rather than everything changing.

With the main page it's a bit distracting for the image to keep changing (as they are all different formats), and it makes reading the popup text harder than it should be. I think it looks best with the opening image.

The blog that it links to is blank?

All in, it's a simple well set out site!

Hi Phil. Some stunning images and, as said before, a nice clean site. I like the opening shot on the front page and also agree that perhaps keeping that static would be better. Some other (small) points: the 'Links' pop-up is missing the 'click to close' dialog and the homepage link on your logo opens in a blank page rather than just refreshing. Just a point:- some of your images are quite high-key and so I wonder if you have thought about using a darker background on the site or adding a view-on-black option?

Sam: Thanks Simple was the plan

I hadn't thought about the image behind the popups changing being distractin, but i agree that it is. I'll have a think about either making the popups less see through or fixing the image.

My old blog got blitzed in the hosting move, I've just done some formatting to the new one and put one post up. I'm in two mindes about either starting with a clean sheet, or recreating some old posts.

pachinkofan: I thought long and hard over the contact details, and decided on convenience over security.

I don't understand " fashion... scrolllll and all "full size"" sorry. Re full size - I'm hoping to ad a lightbox popup for bigger images for peopple with large monitors in the future.

John: you are right the logo is opening a new window! Will fix. A second vote for a static homepage image *takes note*. And well spotted on the missing "Click to close" will sort.

Black background - no I hadn't considered this - i was after a bright modern look, and while some pictures 'do' look better on black I feel it would change the look of the site too much, would need me to add in more UI clutter to control it, and would make a lot of the text unreadable. But if we can get the lightbox application integrated that might just do what you suggest, in a slightly different way.

Thanks all for some really helpful feedback.

The photos are excellent but I found the way the gallery moves picture automatically to be a bit annoying.

    Beutiful site and images!

I agree that the white background is better - keeps it simple and easy on the eye.
