    A few pics

    Hi all,
Just want to show you my new website - it's mainly for family and friends - nothing pro or meaning to be.
But would also like people's views on my pictures. How I can improve with certain shots, sharpness, colours etc you know what I mean ;-)

I started a course the other month but it was cancelled due to lack of students. So the only learning I get is by taking photos, which in my opinion is the best practice for most things anyway.

So that's why I need your guys help. I'm on a couple of other forums but I think they are way too advanced and feel at times they can't be dealing with the amatuers and get a little upset when you ask a few questions.

From what I've seen this site and mag isn't like that (hence the title).

So please all honesty with my photos etc as I don't have anyone close by that can help me with this kind of thing.

    Your opinions are much appreciated.

    so here is my website/blog
    www.jose7.com

    and my flickr is
    www.flickr.com/lopezjose7

    Thanks for your time

A: This section's just for critique about the website workings, for photo critique you need to post individual photos in the appraisal forum [as per the instructions there]

The blog's ok, just a shame there's 3 "pages" of pics on each. Would be good to have some kind of gallery so you could group photos/areas, but then I'll let others comment too, as my website's non-existent at the moment

B: You'll need to add a link back to the AP website from your site/flickr etc to have their addresses posted here.

[The AP also does a couple of photography courses, and no I'm not on commission: Just so you know ]

Nights were a real drag, thankfully work's on 2 shifts now [day/back] so more time to do things... If only photography were higher up the pecking order ;-)

Hello and apologies for posting this in the wrong area. When I get out and start taking pictures again then I shall post up individual pictures up and ask for comments

As I've never had a website before I'm still learning about different layouts etc. I would like to make a gallery as you suggested and will be looking into that.

    Thanks again

No worries. It was more in case you wondered why you weren't getting the feedback you wanted/expected.

    Cheers,

Sorry to be a noob again - but was this moved to the correct location as others are posting their sites up and getting comments.

Also I've added a gallery section ( still working on this though) - what do you think about this lay out.

    Thanks again

    Re: A few pics

Your photography blog is obviously improved by having some actual photographs included in it but the main reason that people may not bother to respond on this section of the forum is that it is aimed at those webmasters who design and produce the entire web-site themselves and so are capable of putting into action any valid suggestions made about its layout or operation. In your case you have used Pageline Themes which obviously gives you a massive constraint as to how much you can change things. Therefore if you ask what we think of 'your' site we cannot tell which parts have been influenced by you and which parts are generic from the template - so it then becomes rather pointless to suggest how it could be improved. Please don't take this as being negative about your images or blog - it's just trying to explain why this may not be the best section of the forum to use in this instance

    Re: A few pics

Hi John, thanks for your reply.
I did realise this after I posted. Going to one day try and create my own website from scratch, soo many better things you can actually do rather than just follow the rules of a theme. Thanks again for pointing this out. Think I'm just more upset with my friends not commenting on the site.

Thanks again, really appreciate it :-)
