Looks like and is labelled as a Dynax 7 film camera, not 7D digital.
Still an interesting find though.

Definitely *not* on Facebook or Twitter!
Nor sending from an iPhone or iPad!
May be worth getting and start to get my hands wet again.........![]()
There are still new 7s around - a dealer in East London had a load stolen recently, as was reported in the "News" board here.Looks like and is labelled as a Dynax 7 film camera, not 7D digital.
Still an interesting find though.
Although I've never come across the dealer in the OP's link, I'm sure they are reputable and there is no connection.

The stolen ones were limited edition 7's, you can see them for sale on ebay (yes I and many other Minolta owners have emailed the shop owner and one person contacted the police directly but no news yet if they got them). The one in the original post is a standard 7 though, different model.
They are a great camera, although I paid about £115 from memory on eBay for a top condition one, that according to the data facility only had 15 rolls through it, the dates for them were Christmas, clearly the owners summer holidays the odd role then Christmas again!
Lots of low mileage models on ebay, just watch out for the boxed limited editions that are the stolen ones.
I would love to have one with a VC-7 grip to go with my 7D (which is now kind of retired). But when I see a Dynax 9...I get confused as to which one...but the Dynax 9 is still very expensive.
The problem with the 9, is that unless you get a rare one that's been upgraded, or find someone you trust in Germany to post it to in order to get it upgraded with the remaining spare parts, it does not support SSM lenses. This means 70-200 and 300G do not work, and the Zeiss 24-70 or 16-35 etc and any future lenses. All the 7 bodies support SSM so its a better choice, at least that was my decision.
The grip is hard to find at a decent price on its own (I am still trying, maybe I am too tight!). There is a camera and grip on ebay that appeared today I see in the email alert, not looked at it in detail but check it out if you are looking (stay away from the new in box limited edition 7 from a seller in Essex with 0 feedback, looks like the stolen ones from David Leung!)
Yes, I am aware of the disadvantages, but I handled one once and fell in love with it's tank like body and AF, features...but I know that the 7 is what logically you wanna go.
True, if your ever in need of putting up one of your great pictures taken with a 9 it does have the advantage you can smack the nail in with it
A lot of second hand dealers seem to have them, but they come up on eBay a bit I noticed and go for more sensible prices there. Guess trick is to find an enthusiast not professionally owned model.
The 7 has some other tricks as well like the metering display and the "STF Mode" that take multiple exposures on the same frame to smooth the Bokeh. Its worth reading the manuals (well glancing at) for both before you decide. They are both still online on a Minolta site somewhere I believe.

Maybe I should try Ebay US, I have no problems with the Maxxum![]()
