    50mm f/1.8 on E-510

Just wondering if there might be anyone who has one of the E system cameras and using and older 50mm f/1.8 with an adapter on it?
Lenses that i got with my camera body are both with big apertures and i am interesting in portraits with plenty blur background and wondering if it would be a good idea to get one?

Also, when had a look for adapters, did notice the Olympus ones which would be too much out of my budget but seen some repl in ebay

    i.e http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

    Any opinion on that?

    Thanks!!

I have had two ebay adapters and both have been great. I bought a second one with a focus confirm chip built in and it is very useful. I think I paid about £20-£25, but can't remember.

I've used the 50mm f/1.8 occasionally and it works well, but is quite hard to focus. So I would recommended the AF confirm version:

    Try here
    Thanks

Not entirely in line with your question but I use an Olympus f1.4 50mm lens in conjunction with my Canon 5D. The results are excellent, with corner to corner sharpness on the full frame camera when stopped down. It easily beats my Canon L zoom which is strangely flaky at 50mm, and it is a fraction of the size and weight. It should be superb on a crop frame camera.

The 5D viewfinder does just about allow for manual focusing but a focus confirmation adapter is well worth having for when the light or contrast is poor.

This weekend I used it to phot a steam train as it passed through a station at speed at night, and the results are far better than they deserve to be. What a wonderful lens!

I don't have a 4/3rds camera any more but when I did I used an OM to 4/3 adapter and tried a 50/1.8 and was rather disappointed. I had much more success with a Minolta MD to 4/3 adapter and the Rokkor lenses.

Do you mind telling me more about what with that lens was so disappointing or what were the downfalls of it?
And are Rokkor lenses quite expensive or can you get them for a bit of a bargain aswell?

In a rush to try out the 50mm f/1.8 lens i bought the usual adapter and waiting for that to be delivered. Have saved that page with the AF confirm version that you pointed out and if the one i got not good, will try to get the other one.
    SO thanks!

The adapter came today! So all through the day i have been trying to catch moments of testing it and though maybe kind of early to say as takes time to get used to and to learn to get the most of it, but pretty pleased.
But knowing that there is that adapter that helps out with the focusing, i am very interested to get that!

Thanks again for everyone ś responses and help!!
