    Fisheye

    Hello!

Is there any digital camera out there with a setting that would give the effect of a fish eye lense? Or even any photo/ video editing software out there which can apply the effect of a fish eye lense?

If not, does any body know roughly how much a fish eye lense would cost?

Photoshop can distort images to the similar effect. Though optical distortion will be better.

As for a lens (not lense) which camera mount? Full circle fisheye or 180 degree?

If you've got a SLR think around £500 for a fisheye, also if you've got a cropped sensor camera then the fisheye effect will be less.

You can also get things that fit on the front of non-interchangable lens cameras that probably work with most camers, sort of. There are often adverts in the back of the AP. (You say digital rather than dSLR).

I don't think you should be spending a lot of money to get gimmicky effects. In serious use I find a fisheye useful for recording interiors although I only have a fisheye on my OM2. I can remove distortion using DxO which is more useful than introducing it to my mind. As my a900 FF wide angle goes down to 16mm I doubt that I'll buy a fisheye now.

Many many many years ago, when I first took up photograpy (on flim) I used to try all sorts of things one of which was wide angle pictures usin a SUPER WIDER SEMI FISH-EYE Convertor from a company calle AICO. This screwed onto the front of the standard lens (using the filter thread) using a converting ring I have just dug it out of storage to try again.
Try looking on ebay etc there may be some out there in the interweb for a few quid. The name above on bold is taken directly from the lens itself.
