    Paris

If one were to go to Paris for a couple of nights, where would you stay (arrondissement/area), and what would you prefer to see (quiet backstreets or grand boulevards)??

I've only been once before (as a child), and that was a day trip so didn't really see much. At some point I expect the Eiffel Tower and Louvre would be worth a visit, but I have a feeling that if time is limited a backstreet stroll would be so much more rewarding than a queue with other tourists.

    So, what's unmissable?

    The flight back.

I've spent far more time in Paris than I would like, and although I prefer many other cities, the fact is that it doesn't really matter what you see - it's all worth seeing.

The dog dirt on the pavements.

    Re: Paris

The area around Sacre-Coeur - avoiding the beggars and tourist traps - is a must for me.
Anywhere on the rive gauche, there are some fantastic side streets, buildings etc.
For a fun alternative view, try a segway tour. I loved it, but some people on the same trip obviously didn't...
Accomodation-wise, I stay as up-market as I can afford. Paris has shown me that some people can tolerate hotel rooms that I wouldn't let my dog stay in.
    Have fun!

I guess it depends what you are after, if you want modern architecture check out La Defence, I really like the area around Notre Dame, lots to see and shoot. Sacre Coeur is a wonderful place to get some great panoramic shots. All in all a great city, I am sure you will have a great time.
On thing to note is that due to the exchange rate, Paris is particularly expensive right now.

Here's "Where to Stay" ....unless, of course, you already have a place I have stayed there and have recommended it to customers and friends and those who have stayed there have
    all enjoyed it

As to "What to See/Shoot" ..... everything, just grab your
camera(s) and wander around taking pics ...or what I did (for one day) was take this "Jump on Jump off" bus tour around Paris . I did the whole circuit the first 1/2 day and saw all places "that you're supposed to see" and shot from the bus which gave me some interesting
perspectives Then on the ladder 1/2 of the first day I jumped off somewhere that looked interesting from the bus and wandered around shooting. Then, on the second day, I went to some area I found interesting, jumped off and wandered around some more then jumped back on the bus and got off at the
Champs Elyees -- that big street by Arc D' Triomphe -- Also, if you
want an interesting view of the Champs Eylesses (?) and such, go up to the top of the Arc D' Triomphe -- hopefully the lift will be working -- between dusk
and night for some pretty spectacular shots. Also, the Trocadero will provide
some interesting shots of the Eiffel Tower at night

    Cheers and Happy Trails
