Leica III Sticky shutter

Does anyone know someone who will not charge an arm and a leg to resolve slow shutter speeds on a Leica III. So far I have been quoted between £120 - £180 and that is more than I paid for camera, and also more than some dealers are charging now for such a cemera, with a warranty.

It is all working otherwise and rangefinder is very good, and I would hate to see it sit on a shelf, when it should be taking pictures.

Leica repairs aren't cheap I'm afraid. Have you tried Malcom Taylor?

If you can't get satisfaction I guess the other option is to buy a new body.

.... or Peter Grisaffi (CRR) in Luton. Both Peter & Malcolm have quite a backlog of work, but both are first class. You might also enquire at Red Dot Cameras. All of these will be significantly better than a general photo repairer - they have all of the knowledge & expertise, and often most of the parts too.

One thing to consider during a service/CLA is having the r/f mirror replaced if it is at all dim.
