    Heart in mouth moment!

I dropped my camera on Saturday! I was in the living room and if slipped out of my hands, hit the coffee table, bounced once onto the other end of the coffee table and then onto the floor (narrowly missing my daughter whom was playing).

I picked it up and found it was intact. I couldn't even see where it had landed and it worked perfectly.

The surprising thing was that it wasn't my Shock Proof Mju 850SW, or the tank like E-3, but the E-420 with standard kit zoom. Looking at the coffee table it looked like first impact was on the lens rim as there's a 2 mm deep semicircular dent.

There's no dent on the plastic, not scuffs or anything on the camera, I feel both lucky and glad that Olympus put a lot of effort into the build quality of their cameras.

I also wonder weather the E-420 is too small for my frying pan hands!
    Thanks

I just know how you felt. Recently I was roving around in Greenwich Park near the ponds, taking pictures of various plants etc when there was a heavy sounding thump.

I looked down on the path and there quietly laying in the leaves was a lens cover! I eventually found my 14-42mm lens nestling in a flower bed. All the damage appeared to be to the lens hood rim which was reversed just a small dent but brother was I upset. I had changed lenses about 15 minutes before and had forgotten to zip back up my lens case. I exchanged lenses at once and as far as I can tell all is well, phew. So like you, I am so glad of the quality build of Olympus. A metre drop onto concrete and it survived. A most horrible heart stopping noise, I shall remember for a good long time.

I was actually pretty glad it wasn't my E-3 and 12-60mm, as I could see the extra weight causing problems!

Not least to the coffee table - wife already up in arms about the dent!
    Thanks

True! She jumped a mile, but saw the funny side! 'Silly Daddy!' I think she said, then went back to Peppa Pig!
    Thanks
