1960 Leica

Hi all,it's my 50th birthday in July next year and as a gift i want a Leica(or other excellent quality)rangefinder camera that was made in,or close to July 1960 as possible.I've heard it's possible to date such cameras by their serial number.Assuming this is true how would i find the relevant serial numbers?Any other advice would be gratefully appreciated.Many thanks in advance.

Indeed, it is not quite as straightforward as it may seem.

There's a link on that page going to a monthly breakdown at cameraquest. It seems the choice is basically an M2 (either with or without self-timer). Finding a nice one within the relevant serial number range is the challenge. Don't forget a matching lens.
