    Seedy motel room needed

Does anyone know of anywhere (ideally around the midlands) where I can get a view similar to this? Generally it's all about the mixed lighting coming in through the window.

    Much appreciated.

Not be cheaper to just get a Motel NEON sign mail order and do it yourself?

Nights were a real drag, thankfully work's on 2 shifts now [day/back] so more time to do things... If only photography were higher up the pecking order ;-)

Possibly. I always imagined neon signs to be on the expensive side.

They're not (weren't) cheap, depends on size, colour, flashing/non-flashing, etc.

We had one made 14/15 years ago for a Channel 4 commissioned short film; two colour, two lines, flashing, approx 42" X 18". Digging out the paperwork I see it required six cables, three transformers, two flasher units:

Line #1: 'Take Away' in red
    Line #2a: 'Food' in red
    Line #2b: 'Sex' in blue

All flashing with 'Food' & 'Sex' alternating. As I recall red was cheaper than blue, which why it was made the way it was, although the original script called for 'Sex' to be red and the rest blue, but the budget won over the style.

That cost us £218+VAT in 1995 from a company called Argon in London.

That may not be indicative of today's prices, some stuff has actually got cheaper.

ah, sorry, I was thinking of the ones on fleabay from hongkong which are basically a plastic sign with a neon along the top to highlight the sign like the old holograms [about 20quid]

still, that or phone up the motels and ask "do you have a seedy sign outside?"

Either of those is probably a better option, almost certainly cheaper.
