Bournemouth - Food Help

I'm going to be in Bournemouth over the weekend and need somewhere to eat on the Saturday evening.

I would arrange a AP meeting, but it's only going to be for the one night and they'll be family members around!

Either somewhere like this (which is in Harrogate, but used as an example of what we like) or somewhere quiet and romantic.

English or Italian food.

Any suggestions?

Hi Fen,

Well Prezzo looks a bit like that inside and their chain does seem reliable from my experience.

Prezzo, 58 Westover Road, Bournemouth, Dorset BH1 2BZ
01202 556399 They run the Pollo Arrosto Menu at that establishment.

Have a nice time.

Re: Bournemouth - Food Help

Hi ya
I live in Sunny old Bournemouth, and no offence but to find somewhere quiet and romantic in the town itself is a challenge. Especially as it is the school hols and we are swamped with holidaymakers!
If you want to find somewhere quiet and romantic you may need to go out of the town a little.
Avoid anywhere on Christchurch road in Bournemouth on a weekend unless you are a fan of getting drunk with the students.
Again to be honest it depends on which side of Bournemouth you are staying too, how far you want to travel, how much money you want to pay.

As mentioned Prezzo is in the town. But I have been there and because they want to get through lots of people so they get more dosh they really hurry along your meals.
There is a nice prezzo in Christchurch which is about 15 mins drive out of the town. It is a more scenic quieter town.
There are some one off restaurants like pinocchio's which is small but has a little charm about it. It serves some nice Italian food. That is in the center of Bournemouth but unfortunately not in the nicest part.
I havent been to too many others that I can call romantic or quiet in the town itself.

Although there may be some nice restaurants in the hotels around Bournemouth.

I will keep thinking and if any more come to mind I will let you know.
I hope you enjoy your stay in Bournemouth.
We have fantastic beaches, beautiful gardens, and some of the best weather. Enjoy xxx

Thanks Vicki

I know Bournemouth quite well, but not the food places - more of a pub person

If you wanted Chinese I could help, but I'm not into italian, and for English I usually prefer me own cooking.

Never been there but looks ok.
It is in a shopping area near the gardens.
If you are going by car unfortunately there is no where free to park. The car parking charges in some car parks are a right rip off.
Especially the car park near the balloon.
I think for something like 2 to 3 hours it is £4.20 or something. So bring some change

Anything that I may be able to help you with give me a shout!

Cool. that is good then.
Yes I am more of a pub person. But I do have a weakness for a restaurant called 'aruba' which on the pier.
But it is bloody noisy in there and you have to shout to be heard as the chill-out music they play is soooooo loud! But the cocktails! yum yum!

Do you have a car? Just outside Bournemouth (over the border in Poole) there's Les Bouviers

I think it meets the small and romantic requirement, and the food is excellent. If the weather's nice you can have pre-meal nibbles while you read the menu, and post meal coffee, on the patio outside, overlooking a pleasant garden.

Hope you have a good meal wherever you end up.

Bournemouth Fen? Pah!

Come to Blackpool, we're not swamped (sadly with good reason ). Oh, hang on, we don't really do 'romantic' either, unless you consider horrendous Hags & Stens 'romantic'...

Actually, Bournemouth sounds great.

Ah, Bed! I forgot about that one. I've not been but SWMBO has. That's the trouble with Harrogate, so many restaurants, so few babysitters.

Maybe one day. It's a shame you didn't rate Luigi's, I've yet to have a poor meal there, their calves liver is sooo nice.

Re: Bournemouth - Food Help

Bournemouth doesnt have a great number of `intimate` italian restaurants but La Strada has some of the best food and although not small it does have a great atmosphere and great staff... If you walk along the beach a little way you can find Vesuvio which has a great location and it looks as if tomorrow evening will be good. Again a larger restaurant but great food and location. Both websites have menus, maps, pics etc..
