Someone help ! I'm developing a taste for a Mamiya 7 and keep scouring e bay for a nice 2nd hand example. Problem is I already have a Mamiya RZ and can I, or anyone else for that matter, justify such a purchase?![]()

I bought a second mamiya 645 pre inter changable backs. One for colour one one for mono. You can't say that about the rz so sorry I can't give you a reason. Well I can just go and do it and damn it all![]()
I also had the RB67 ProSD at the same time. The RB was used for portraiture but I also like using out in the field, didn't enjoy carrying it all though. The 7 was at home in towns and cities and mad a great travel camera. It's a lovely camera Mark. I had 2 7II black bodies with 50mm, 65mm, 80mm and 150mm lenses.
If I was still shooting film, I'd go back to that set-up like a shot. Maybe one day.![]()
I keep wondering if I can justify the cost though. What I might want is quite a distance from having the time to do the camera justice. I'll keep looking anyway and see if a little gem pops up on ebay.I also had the RB67 ProSD at the same time. Of course you can. The RZ and the 7II are quite different concepts and aimed at different users. The RZ lends the power of contemplation while the 7II has the reactions of a streetwise rangefinder. I manage to justify having a 7II and a 645 Pro. But then I'm not a very logical person when it comes to cameras! My RB went a few years ago> iT had become slightly under-employed, not because of competition from the other Mamiyas but because my photography had changed.
I'll keep looking anyway and see if a little gem pops up on ebay.
Make sure you keep an eye on www.classic-camera.net where they monitor private and eBay ads from all over the world.

I have never owned an 7 but I have always rather fancied one as I usually work with rangefinders anyway as I just prefer them.I do have an RZ67 Pro but it's one hell of a lump to cart about with all the bits like spare backs and the like.A friend of mine used to have a 7 and had some tip top results from his.I think he regrets selling it but he's more of a LF man.

I'm still keeping my eye out for one but at the moment my monies have been directed towards holidays that I rather missed out on last year due to illness.
