    North west wales

Next week me and my family will be going to Abersoch, in north west Wales. i was wondering where are the main photographic loactions in the area. i was thinking going to hells mouth and trying to get some surfing shots, and then may be go up Snowdon, but after that i havent a clue.

Hells mouth is a good spot but take food and drink with you - not much there to buy at all. Snowdonia itself could take up your whole week but call into Betws y Coed a lovely little village with minature train rides etc if you have children with you and some decent shops for Mrs you.
Rhosneigr on Anglesy will perhaps give better surfing shots and you must go to Llanfairpwll to see the village with the longest name in Britain (we live about 3 miles up the road from there) Decent big shop there with lots of interest and a good cafe (Pringles) if it is raining.
Caernarfon is pretty photogenic too. These places look to be quite a distance from Abersoch but they aren't. Most of the roads have been pretty well serviced recently and the travelling time is quite short.
    Enjoy

Snowdon is likely to be heaving - the summit is busy when there's a y in the day, it seems. I'd suggest the Rivals (Yr Reifl) if the weather over Snowdonia is (as is usual) socked in, or even Holyhead "Mountain" (sorry folks, it's no mountain!). Both are far more likely to be clear. Penmon Point and Priory, on the pointy end of Anglesey past Beaumaris, are also worth a look. There are some stonking views around Llyn Ogwen on the A5, but I would say that because I suffer from unrequited lust for Tryfan's summit.

    Just a few ideas...

Take a boat trip out to Bardsey Island. There's lots of photo opportunities and the views are amazing.

Portmeirion might be worth a visit - you can even land your private helicopter there for £250

Bangor is worth a look too, there are some great views from various parts of the city, and the Main Arts University buildings are photogenic.

Just got back from Wales. i ended up spending more time in Bangor than i would have liked, sitting on a hospital bed for 3 days with a broken ankle .

Thanks for all your advice. Even with the injury i still got some good photos.
