Last time I was in Sydney (2001) all I could get were 24ex rolls of Fuji Colour Print film

Have no idea what it's like now though

great place to go, we're there in September but digital go to www. google.au.com and look for camera shop, I found plenty of camera shops in Sydney and one of them must sell film and google for camera clubs - I'm sure that they'd be delighted tp help a pommie, but take plenty of film to get you started in case of hiccups

Thank you Fen and Tony! However, I won't be using a digital and would like to avoid carrying film from here, Ireland, through at least 4 scanning processes on my way to Sydney which is why I was looking to buy b&w film there. As you say though there must be plenty of camera shops there that still sell b&w film......hopefully! Any other suggestions gratefully received, regards June

Your film will be perfectly okay going through the scanners.

I bought 30 rolls or 36ex and took them with me when I was using film in Australia. I ran out and I had a hell of a time trying to buy more whilst there.

If you don't want to use digital then I would really recommend buying your film from home and take it with you

I was in Cairns (Queensland) for 3 weeks over last Christmas, and was surprised that I couldn't find any Fuji film, but no problem finding Kodak 24 or 36 exposures at 100, 200, and 400 ISO print film. No problem finding places to process it either, but I bought all my film home for processing in my hand baggage - essential to avoid strong x-rays.

Paxtons in Sydney process film but I don;t know if they sell it.
    Paxtons Sydney

I've been to Oz five times now and found their entire setup rather strange in respect of services and products. Oz tends to be rather USA leaning, hence the Kodak bias. Bloody strange situation buying cars out there too in terrms of what you can get - another long story lol

Generally really specialist services as we have in the UK , in respect of lots of everyday things, tend to be thin on the ground. Always reminds me of the Mid-West of America for some reason.

Personally I'd buy the film you feel is best suited here and get it processed there.
