    the late Castle Head House

I hope you will allow me to stretch the rules a little this time. I actually took the picture on the 25th of June, but it is a little piece of history that deserves to be put on the record.

I want to share with you what is left of my childhood home which my parents converted to an hotel in 1954-5. The building’s history goes back much further than that though. It was extended many times since the massive slate cobble walls of the original cottage were erected prior to 1630. Sadly it was destroyed by fire back in March this year. And our old Mum died on the 19th of June, the very day the digger moved in to start clearing the remains.

Some of your readers and contributors may well be among the many thousands of visitors to Castle Head House in Keswick over the last 54 years. If so, perhaps they would care to drop a line to the current owner, Neil Anderson, and offer him every encouragement with his rebuilding work.

You can see a hi-res (0.6M) here and compare with the pictures here, here, and here.

Sorry Roger, but it rather defeats the object of the FirstView concept.

As you can see I've moved your post here. If you'd like it moved/removed PM me.

Hey, I quite understand. Rules is rules! :-)

Seriously, I don't yet know my way around here, so thanks for finding a suitable home for my stuff.

I didn't remove anything, Fen. I'd guess it's just Flickr throwing a wobbly!

Does anyone know why my picture doesn't show up above any more? I can still see it on the Flickr website, and the link to the hi-res still works ok.

The link still shows up in Properties as http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2433/...e4c62b29_o.jpg

I don't know why it won't show the picture.

Roger, the link doesn't work. Are you cutting and pasting the link form the address bar? If so then that's why it won't work, you need to grab the photo's URL and use that to link to the shot. From memory, go to the photo on Flickr, click on all sizes, and on that page you should see the sub title 'grab the URL' or similar with a uRL in a box next to it. Copy that URL and use it n the Image box on here.

    I think.

    We'll see if he's right...

Yes, he's absolutely spot on. Been wondering how to do it myself!

(removed image to avoid hijacking thread - but the instruction is absolutely correct)

Yes, I know the link doesn't work. That's why I'm asking you why it doesn't work because I don't know why it isn't working.

    <deep breath; calm down!>

I originally did just as you say and grabbed the URL. I'm confident I did it right because I followed the instructions (because I don't post often enough to remember them). Anyway, it worked just fine while my message was on the "first" forum.

Hang on, let me go back to flickr and retrieve the URL again. It is:
    http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2433/...356f1d75_o.jpg

Now that is clearly different to the link you have above. So has the link here changed or has the URL on flickr changed? The other links are still OK. It's a puzzle to me.
