    Goodwood Festival of Speed

Went to the Festival of Speed today - absolutely superb! Incredible cars, motor bikes, sounds and smells! First real test for my Nikon D60, and the pictures are excellent. Icing on the cake was the Red Arrows display, which we watched from the car park just prior to leaving.

Rally section was fantastic! Look out for the big US 4x4 which roars up the hillclimb and straight on to the Rally circuit! Awesome!

I was a little underwhelmed by it. Too many people just stumbling around. A real fight to get to anything worth photographing. There was some cracking stuff their if you could find it though.

The final insult was the junkburger and bottle of water at £8

Mmmm - I didn't have too much difficulty nosing my lens in where I wanted it. I agree that some of the food outlets were a bit overpriced, as were the very small model McLaren Mercedes steering wheels at £40! But you always find rip-offs at these things.

I got to drive Goodwood many times 30 odd years ago for Esso, trying to stay on the tail of a professional driver. We were in Mini 1275GTs and Capri GTs. Amazing fun. I was soaked in sweat after a lap or two.

I was there today too (sorry, yesterday). Great entertainment all round even if a little overpriced! So many enjoyable things to see and photograph. Re. expensive food prices, you have to remember to make your own sandwiches!

I'm having the car below when the lottery win comes through!

    SLR? It takes pictures too?

Well just got back today from Goodwood and I really enjoyed myself. Yes the food and drink was a bit expensive but there was loads to do and see. Now to sort out my hundreds of photos...

Oh yes... and on the rally stage it was just tooooooo big for the course. It ended up taking the signs at the side of the road out just by driving around the track... lol

The DA*300 would have been useful for that shot
