Re: Slow Day...

I'm here, but I guess I'm slow anyway. I'm still off work sick, came off the anti-depressants and it's played havoc with my digestive system, in a lot of pain. If you're really bored Fen, you could build your own EOS-1Ds! (instructions)

It's been raining here most of the morning and I'm pleased the unbearable heat has relented.
Some of these medications can leave you with IBS - Try Buscopan (Hyoscine - n - butylbromide) if you are getting sharp stabbing pains Richard.

Sorry to hear that Richard. Since seeing the local psychowotsit a couple of times I seem to be improving at the moment. No doubt July 18th will put paid to that.

Hope things improve soon for you.
Cheers

Having no health worries at the moment, I'm feeling really left out.

From time to time a get (minor) stomach pains, and these always worry me as a few relatives have gluten allergies. Thankfully, I seem ok so far, but I always have that nagging doubt.

so you could try chewing on a cork or if that doesn't work you can stick the cork somewhere else

I was just reading this bit at lunchtime when someone came in asking if I'd got a Prit-stick. I thought that was hilarious - - OK, OK you had to be there ! Lisa.

Well, that's a problem for me. my lunch is consistently some form of dull sandwich, just to keep me going, with a hefty meal when I get home. Partly due to work, partly due to fitting in around family. And I just don't give myself the time or energy to think about changing my diet. Plus, I may be getting older, but I don't feel inclined to change much. Guess I'll just keep going and either kill or cure...

Which is what it is all about. That doubt grows and creates panic and very painful muscle smasms. It is a circular thing.
The gluten, tomato, corn etc reactions exist, but are massively magnified by the mental side: doubt, worry, panic, spasms. That's why if you manage to believe it is one of those things, the treatment appears to work, because it relieves your doubts.
Eating crisps at lunchtime used to make me explode, but I'm managing it now by mental effort. I found I couldn't justify avoiding everyting once I knew it was essentially mental.

Re: Slow Day...

I have to own up I guess, that having always had a bombproof digestive system I've not been particularly gentle with it. In particular at the moment, I'm aware that I eat too much red meat, and especially, drink far too much coffee. A while back whilst I was working in addictions, we had training which included caffiene addiction, and I discovered I was taking toxic amounts. I have cut down, but still it's hard to find me without a coffee on the go.

Ultimately, I can't complain. I either take responsibility for what I eat and drink, or I don't, and face the consequences.
