Well, your avatar suggests an idea is already half-formed. Just complete your outfit with an old diving suit; get a large (say 25 litre) plastic bottle, some rubber pipe about say, 2cm in width and 5 metres in length, a small nozzle and a foot pump. Then print a large advertisement to lean against the plinth which will feature a silhouette of a 1920's-type Chicago gangster with fedora and a tommy-gun spraying not bullets but water. The slogan on the board will announce that you are Public Enema Number 1 - and will provide - entirely free - enemas to all-comers until either the hour is up or the water is all gone.

Well, I understand that Gormley is a sculptor so presumably counts as an artist. Follow spikeblue's link and you'll find references to creating. I'm still not sure how picking 2,400 people to stand on an 8m tall plinth qualifies either as art or a creation - can you explain it to me, please - in words of 2 syllables or less if you care to dumb it down for the non-artistic me.

I've applied for a place on the plinth. (So has Fen and Erm. I think Dave Cox has as well. Not sure about any others). None of us have been selected so far.

If I get selected I intend to spend my hour up there with my Tripod, camera and biggest lens and a soddin' great sign saying something like -

I AM a photographer

I AM NOT a terrorist
I AM NOT a paedophile

So please LEAVE ME ALONE.
