That brings back memories of the Tristar from Jeddah to Khamis. They wouldn't start the APU and we stewed.
Wouldn't or couldn't? I seem to remember Tristar APUs being less than sparklingly reliable.
I don't know about the APU, the whole fleet was profoundly suspect. I liked the way that once the airframe started rolling the interior caught up with it quite quickly and the number of lockers that popped open and lights that flickered or went out was fairly small.

Rumour had it that they were not allowed to fly outside the Kingdom.

Wonderful aircraft, the design was only about 20 years ahead of the avionics available!

I remember flying from Chandigarh to Kashmir in an Indian Air Force AN-12. We seemed to sit on the tarmac for a long time in 40C ambient. Once airborne, and on the ground in Kashmir, the temperature was extremely pleasant. We then spent a month working at altitudes of up to 17500 feet and amidst the most incredible scenery. The flight back was good too, until we landed in New Delhi and again sat on the tarmac for ages in scorching temperatures.

Paradoxically I got a real shock flying to Austria a couple of years ago. I got on a plane from Stanstead on a Sunday evening with the temperature at about 12 C. when I landed at Saltzburg it was nearly 30 C and very humid. Very odd in a country where it is always snowing somewhere.

I also did it the other way round. I caught a flight form Jeddah at midnight in about 30 C. Got to Heathrow at 7o'clock in the morning in shorts and t-shirt with no coat and it's -1 C and snowing.

What has surprised me is the total lack of wind in the morning, and just a slight movement later on.
A high fibre diet should sort that for you!

OK so today it was over 40 here and oh so humid.
So hot that it seemed the humidity was about to boil and when there was a wind, it was as if someone was using a hair-dryer on maximum heat.

In short, flipping hot and ugly.

Was brass monkies at the top of a hill at 3am this morning...wouldn't say it was blowing a gale as it was stiller than it normally is up there but it was still a wee touch breezy Fleecy jumper, gore-tex jacket full zipped up with the hood up over my wolly hat...and i was still cold Warmed up quick when the sun came out though...was sweating walking down hill!

1st time I've walked down a hill in years...was reminded how much I hate it! Hillwalkers are queer folk indeed....walking up the hill, aye, fair enough, I quite like that but walking down is sair on the knees and toes. Sod that...am taking the bike next time Don't like riding with a tripod but it's still better than walking

Anyhoo, did you have any luck with that flower pic? Could always cheat and focus stack it?

Not one passion flower out today, but lots of buds. Probably out over the next few days whilst I'm away in W Wales. In past years, once they've started, I normally get one flower/day at least.

Another challenge in this area is the humble dandelion!

Last weekend I did get a bee with a spot on its back. Not as big as a bumble bee, but bigger than the normal, which I rarely see.
