Glad that all went well. Do you know if you got the cemented hip or the other sort (forgotten the name)

The opposite of cemented is uncemented/cementless. For cementless the surface of the implant in contact with the bone will be porous to allow bone to grow into the implant. They will often be a hydroxyapitite coating to aid bone growth.

Now, the question is, was a total hip replacement, or a hip resurfacing ?

    Glad the op went well.

    well done

I take it that it was done under local anaesthetic.
People are up and about so much quicker. when they do not have to recover from being half poisoned by a general anaesthetic
Glad everything went ok ... think id rather be half poisned by a general than have a local

last time i had a local the doc said it would take 7 minutes - true and i wouldnt feel a thing - big fat lie

    Glad things went well

As you know, the best thing to do is to exercise it when possible.. so I'm sure you can find certain activities to do which will strengthen your hip *snigger*

I hope your "i-pod thingy" was sufficient to block the engineering sounds?

Maeve Binchy told me that she had commented to the nurse at her side, while being fitted with her new hip, that she was suprised that the noise from the new buildings being put-up in Dublin was so loud even in the operating theatre...She was put right later!

All best Peter, it will make a new man of you.

Peter, welcome back, I'm glad that it's all gone well so far. Now, tell us about the nurses.

    Thank you David, Barney
Nurses, tall, willowy, minimum 'D' cup, eyes flashing with promise..........
Oh Cr@p that was the morphine
To be honest Barney they were excellent - it is a bit disconcerting asking a girl you have trained to help you put your drawers on but her embarrassment soon disappears

Look on the bright side Peter, it would have been more embarrassing if you'd trained her in accounting!
