Mottisfont Abbey roses (6 <100K each)

A few shots from the National old rose collection at Mottisfont Abbey

    Honorine de Brabant

Louis XIV, nearest I know to a black rose

Rosa Mundi, origin unknown, but before 1500

    R.Rugosa Rubra

    Sidonie

    Tuscany superb

Altogether I took about 600 shots over 3 days, to see about 180 of them sized at 800 pixels

The majority were shot using Tamron 90/2.8 with Kenko 1.4X Teleplus, Minolta 5D.

(Click the captions not the thumbnails)
    Cheers MIKE

No.2. (Louis XIV) and last one, (Tuscany superb) are my favourites. The dark ones seem to show up best here, or may be it's because they appeal to me.

That's all very well but what does Ken Rockwell have to say on the matter?

Excellent work Mike...looks like a fun place to have a wander with a macro lens

The Sidonie is my favourite...looks like layers and layers of soft silk. If I was a bee that's where you'd find me Maybe try a little curve on it to bring the shadows up a touch? Looks like you got the whole flower sharp

My favourite is Rosa Mundi - it's flowering in my garden right now. Lisa.
