    Crapspeak

There seems to have been a plethora of crapspeak around the bazaars of late. Notable examples have ben MP's explanation of their expenses claims, and the DG's explanation of BBC salaries. But the one which really takes the biscuit was the woman in Wales, whom having given (or received) a grant that had something to do with women's bottoms, said words to the effect that "This always produces the tee-hee response, but it is a serious issue". Crapspeak, known in impolite circles as Shitespeak, first appeared some time ago in a speech from the then Chancellor of the Exchequer, including such mumbo-jumbo as 'macro-economics' and others which, until this day, no-one has understood

Life, is only as complicated, or as serious, as you want it to be - your choice.

I would suggest the word 'Lies' is a dangerous word to use as it much-loved income-earner for members of the legal profession and 'Crap-speak' sounds much better.

It's horrible isn't it. It's exactly the same as the management speak I have to put up with at work. It's the art of saying lots of words without actually conveying any message. I have found it to be quite a skill.

Let's just flag this one, put a line under it and we'll remove all barriers of entry. Bottom Line is this is best practice, but we need a Blamestorming session to find out how we get ahead of the curve.

Add to the crapspeak, all the acronyms that are used by management. Only they know what they are. You come away from a meeting not having a clue what they were talking about, you were too embarrassed to ask what "xyz" stood for, assuming you were the only one, to find out later, noone else knew either.

Oh I don't know, I'm never too embarressed to say that I don't know what you are talking about. If some middle manager is trying out his latest jargon, I have no reservations in asking "I'm sorry, but could you please explain in English what "getting ahead of the curve" means in reference to computer software development"
Once explained I'll happily suggest "Would it not be easier and more understandable for everyone to say that we want to anticpate the market?"
The way I see it, it is more embarressing using this language than it is to admit you have no idea what it's going on about.
Some managers agree, some give me a look as if to say they would like to sack me.
Either way most have learnt not to use gobbledy-gook when meeting with me.

I think a lot of managers speak like that so as not to be accountable! Make it to plain and they'll have to stand by what they say!

I think watching David Brent in the office really brings this crap out into the light.

One of my managers was trying to squirm his way out of answering a question I put too hom by this crap.

Each time he started a line I said "talk properly!"
This happened 6 times when he finally just walked off.

Annoys the hell out of me
