Voices that "Grate" on you....

Whose voice on the T.V. or radio really gets on you nerves?

As nice a person as she probably is, I can't stand Virginia Wade's voice. There's something there that just goes through me.

Whenever she's on I wish she'd never won Wimbledon.

Whose voice irritates you..?

Vernon Kaye - the northern accent doesn't usually bother me but his voice makes me reach (for the mute button!)

Sarah Kennedy and her school marmly prattle on Radio 2. She is the most iritating broadcaster ever and seems incapable of playing a record without talking inanely over it about cats, holidays, her "dearly beloved" (he must be a right unfortunate muppet!) and an absurd amount of name dropping.

And don't get me started about Dale Winton, Paul O'Grady, Noel Edmunds...

Some bint from Norn Iron who does reports on BBCs local NW news.

If she was covering the happiest of kiddies birthday parties her tone would make one think all the little mites had been slaughtered... and she has a face like a wet weekend in Scunthorpe, a permanent scowl.

That's all very well but what does Ken Rockwell have to say on the matter?

I can't stand this guy - I'm sure he was only taken on as part of some ethnic outreach/balancing the books initiative.
R4 needs British born and bred continuity announcers. No others will do.

He seems to be back again and this time with more slots to fill. I think he simply tried too hard, but whatever, I can't stand him. (It's probably like hearing people over the phone - accents are more obvious when you're not face to face.)

I really don't like to hear Janet Street-Porter.

And there's something I find really irritating about that BBC breakfast presenter Susanna Reid (?) although it's not her voice as such. Hard to define, but I just can't watch when she's on.

Why doesn't it surprise me to hear of archetypal R4 listeners being up in arms over this guy. I quite like his lilting tones.

Same Here - along with his mate Wussel Bwand. Oh, and Alan Carr (comedian?) too.

I really like Janet Street-Porter, voice and all. Top of my list for never-hear-again voices is Stephen Fry.

Wow! I'm shocked! I love the Barbados accent. And middle England is surely full of silly accents? Middle England loves Poirot, and his accent is Belgian!

Reminds me of the Little Britain sketch with the woman who vomits whenever she eats anything foreign.Lol

I 2nd Vanessa Felts, and also the northern foghorn who does family fortunes.

But to be honest, there are so many!

Sorry, they are good players but when they are interviewed their voices annoy me so much...
David Beckham and Stephen Gerrard.

David Beckham is good eye candy, but when he opens his mouth it all goes to pot!
Stephen Gerrard with his constant 'eeeeerm' inbetween each couple of words.
