Hoya Screw in Filters for Film Camera

Hi as a newbie to the forum I apologise if this subject already covered somewhere and I have not found it. Can filters bought for a slr film camera be used on a dslr and would the same effect by obtained. Have a five image rotating Hoya, triangular prism rotating filter, and several others. Thanks

As beejaybee has already said, YES, these filters can be used on a DSLR and the same effect will be obtained. Whether these effects should be obtained is another matter!

Again, as beejaybee has already said, welcome to the forum.

Thanks for your help. I was just surprised to not find these filters when looking for uv or sunlight filters for my wife's new birthday dslr. They are my filters from Canon T90 film days and I wondered if they were still useable. She wants to experiment with her birthday present and who am I to dissuade her?

I'm sure I read somewhere that you have to use circular polerisers with a DSLR not linear ones which effect metering?

You should be fine with the filters AND the lenses if you still have them.

Google for "legacy lenses" and your camera make.
