    Bessa R lens help.

    Hello all.

I've just bought a Bessa R and I need a lens. I'd like something reasonably fast, maybe 35 or 50mm and not costing the earth, but I've no idea what's compatible and what's good and what's not so I'd appreciate any pointers anyone can give.

    Thanks in advance.

I had the Voigtlander 35mm f2.5 Colour Skopar Classic with my Bessa R. It's a beautiful lens, very sharp, compact and light.

    Thanks.

    That looks ok.

I originally fancied a 50mm but I recently bought a Canonet and that has a 45mm lens so 35mm for the Bessa might make a nice match.

I once had one too ... second Richard's comments.

And I've got the optically identical pancake version - it's pretty good.

And I have one on a M adapter on my M2, reasonably sharp and contrasty, best of all it's small and the camera is 'pocketable' with the lens fitted.
(OK I've got big pockets )

    Thanks all.

    I managed to find a 35mm f2.5 so I've ordered it.

    Thanks again.

Good one Alan, I look forward to seeing picture in the exhibition gallery, we don't see enough film photographs IMO.
I am interested in how you get on with the Bessa R, I had one for about a month before I PX'd it for the M2. It was all psychological, there was nothing wrong with the Bessa, it was just me.

    Re: Bessa R lens help.

    Hi Guys,

I don't know about posting results as I haven't got a scanner. I could photograph the photographs with my digital camera, or, I wonder if the developers can put them on a CD? I'll have to ask.

I hadn't shot film for a few years before last year when I bought a Canon film SLR and more recently I've bought an Olympus Trip and a Canonet. I've used them all and to be honest I think that my film photography has improved from the years of shooting digital, there's definitely an improvement in exposure and composition leading to a much higher hit rate. I have to say that both the Trip and the Canonet are absolutely addictive to use. I'm particularly impressed with the Canonet and although I don't absolutely need the Bessa I've wanted one for a while and this one seemed like a bit of a bargain.

The next thing that I'll have to investigate is some decent film as all I've been using is cheapo film I bought from the Pound Shop and the results are a bit flat TBH.
