Cringe-worthy HDR?

My first attempt at a HDR image....2 images combined by faffing about with layer opacity, levels and curves in photoshop. Maybe should have read a tutorial or something....

I much prefer the non-HDR version you posted the other day. The HDR here has certainly brought out some detail from the far side of the pond, but I find my eye wandering around the picture looking for a home. I'm not sure about the grass in the foreground - how does it look with that cropped out so the reflections are a bit more prominent?

Ta For this I took 2 pictures - one to get detail in the bright part of the sky which meant the trees and grass were black and another pic where the trees and and grass were green but the sky was just blown out white. The 2 images were combined to make an image with detail in the bright parts of the sky and the dark shadows of the trees as I couldn't get it it all in one image.

Thanks Tom, I prefer the one from the other day too. The grass is just there because I was trying HDR and it was too dark otherwise.

I also prefer this shot taken as the sun was going down (rather than coming up)

Probably could have got away with brightening it up a touch though

I very nearly suggested a sunset shot to get the reverse light in my previous message ! I like it! The boatshed now forms a nice focal point. Nice location and nice image.
