    Robot Camera

Wow! Isn't this one a looker! Spring motor advance for up to 5 frames a second! And this is 50 years ago. Could also tae 50 frames on 35mm (24x24). Square format on 35mm! I wish I could afford it, what a nice little camera.

Actually I have seen a few Robot cameras on Ebay, never heard of them but they tend to sell at high prices. Has AP ever done an article on them? They look very interesting.

There was an article on them, I think about 2006. I don't have it any more, but recall they had an interesting history.

Oh, I think given enough time the enginneers who made it 50 years ago would have come up with an LCD screen!

Look at this video of Robot Royal in operation

Yup. An interesting camera, I remember seeing them around. I think it was the Periflex that also had an unusual format more 4:3 than the 9:6 of normal 35mm if memory serves.

A 35mm frame is 24 x 36 mm which gives an aspect ratio of 3:2 which, although just another way of expressing 9:6, does meet the norm of expression ratios using the smallest appropriate numbers. Yes I know I am being pedantic but if I can read 9:6 as being different from what I expect of 35mm so can any one else.
