Braun slide projectors - any good?

I have run a search but cannot find anything on this subject here before. I am consdering the purchase of a slide projector for use at our club and have been looking at the PAXIMAT MULTIMAG 250 AF I

Can anyone offer an opinion as to the quality of this projector. The lens seems OK and it is 250W so should be OK for a large room.

Also some advice on what the three types of slide holders are all about?

quality = excellent

different slide holders allow use of different types of magazines, you are not obliged to convert all existing magazines to Braun. Seeing that it is for a club and I presume that you don't have stocks of different mags. it might not be relevent. Otoh, members could bring their slides already loaded and it would be less of a hassle, perhaps. Depends how you want to run your slide shows.

When slide projection was common, most serious makers offered an 85 f2.8 lens as an economy item, with something like a 90 f2.5 (e.g. Leitz Colorplan) for the pro grade lens.

There's 3 fairly common straight slide magazines:
DIN standard 36 or 50 slide capacity, very simple and reliable, but nothing to stop a spill.

LKM 60 or 80 thinner slides, and a mechanism to stop spillage. In my experience with a top of the range Leica projector, very unreliable. So bad, I went over to Kodak Carousels - marvellous!

CS - an Agfa system for very thin slides. No experience.


At the last exhibition I attended where people were still using slides for marketing purposes, I noticed that no one was risking the LKM magazine.

There's a range of rotary magazines, from the horizontal Carousel type to vertical models. No experience except with the Carousel.

There's nothing more embarrassing than one's projector making machine gun noises in the middle of a presentation - and chewing up people's "best" slides.

A spare bulb is a bonus for public shows, and easy or automatic replacement is worth having.

Screen?

Blackout?

Lee's Cameras, (Hendon?) if they're still around had a good range of lamps, lenses, etc. but their website isn't loading at the moment.
