Yeah, can you try out Deutsche Post's first class international service for me? I'm looking to see how quickly they could send an EP-1 out to me so pop one in the post there's a good chap!

Having reread this, if I were you I'd confirm just what kind of 'pro' you'll be with. Hamburg hasn't got a reputation for nothing!

If you have a hearty appetite and a strong stomach have a trip to the restaurant in the cellar of the Rathaus. I ordered Smoked pork cheek with sausage, kale and potatoes and I've never seen as much food. I ploughed my way through as I didn't want to offend the bods from head office, and then the waitress came out with a pan containing the other half of it! It could have easily fed a family of 4 for a week!
    Thanks

My brother's just got into pork cheek, cheap as chips he says and very tasty.

    Congratulations!

Perhaps you could assess AF speed and give your opinion on life without a viewfinder. Maybe you could see if the EP1 can continuously focus on a moving object.

Hope you have a great time!

I'm interested to know about using manual focus, or if there is a way of 'locking' AF on a hyperfocal distance for quick 'snapshot' style use.

    Yes, back to sensible answers!

Hmm, I'm not sure that there's anything I'd really want covered. The trouble is that unless you know the nuances of the reviewer, it's hard to trust a review to match your own perceptions. That and the fact that I'm already sold on the EP-1!

Incidentally, which comp did you win?

Re: hazzah! I won the trip to Hamburg!

There was a comp on the announcement email that oly sent on the 16th - 10 chosen out of the first 100 to enter to go.

I spoke to the guy co-ordinating it & there will be OM adaptors available as well so I'll be taking my 55 f1.2 for a quick play as well.

I'll look out for the things above (especially pork!) and let you know how I get on.

FYI the cameras I usually use are an XA, GR1v, 35rd OM2sp and a (ahem) D80. I love available light shooting & 'street' - so hopefully any comments can be related to these.

Bugger, I missed that! I didn't scroll all the way down, I think I went straight to the website and then started slavvering drivel here about it!

Out of interest, when did you post your entry?

I found it on the annoucnement email sent out on Tuesday morning. I did apply for the chance to be on of the ten to trial an EP-1 for a week. That comp seems to have come off the website so fingers crossed for that one.

Missed that one - I couldn't get to Hamburg, so didn't bother with that, but a week's trial would've been good.

Meant to congratulate Oly on their excellent marketing job this time round.

Yes, I have to agree. Though it's much easier to launch something so different to everything else that's out there they've certainly managed to create a lot of interest with the whole launch and my vested interest aside, I certainly hope that it pays off for them.

the email was sent out at 6am and I entered at about 6.25 (I was up only by coincidence thanks to my 15 month old...).

A week's trial - now that's the one to win!

I don't think I picked it up til after 8:00 so that's okay, I would have probably missed out anyway.

I'm not sure that the week's trial is really the one to go for, a trip to Hamburg's not to be sniffed at.

Hey, hope you enjoy the trip to Hamburg!

I have to say I'm fairly certain I'm going to be getting one of these little things, so I'm looking forward to the London launch on Thursday, anyone else going to be there?

Nope, I'm on holiday, otherwise I'd I'd engineered a customer meeting to coincide with it. I popped into Jessies in Harrogate today to see when they'll be getting some in stock but they only think that initially they'll just be getting them in to order.

I'm down in London the following week though so I'll be checking one out in the flesh then.

Re: hazzah! I won the trip to Hamburg!

Just had an email dialogue with Andre from Oly who's organising it and he said that 10 people were chosen from the first 100 people across the whole of Europe - not just the UK! I thought it was for 10 people from each country...
