Hi all.
This is to let everyone know that I have decided to leave the AP/WDC forum at long last. I don't wish my leaving to be misinterpreted, so I would like to make it clear that this is something I have been contemplating for about the last week or so, and the reasons behind it have nothing to do with the forum itself, or anyone on it, but are simply a matter of needing to free up time and avoid distractions. A small 'contretemps' with a respected friend and colleague yesterday may have hastened the decision a little, but it was really no more than that, and I don't want anyone to think that I am leaving because of it or anything else to do with the forum itself.
In fact, I have been planning - perhaps hoping is a better word - for some time now to restart my research career, which effectively stalled when I left DERA/QinetiQ several years ago. The years since then have certainly been 'interesting', but not always in the best sense of that word, and present economic circumstances mean that I need to try to go back to what I know best. Anyway, I expect a long and difficult uphill battle, if I am to get anywhere, and I cannot afford to continue to spend the time on the forums that I have spent in the last few years. Accordingly, I intend to make a clean break. I will probably still visit to keep up with news, maybe send pm's, and so on, but I shall not be posting or getting any more involved than that. Turning up at the occasional forum meet might be on the cards as well, so I shan't be completely severing my links with the site and its denizens.
Anyway, I'll still get pm's if anyone wants to contact me, and I will probably at least drop in and say 'hello' from time to time. Meantime, my best wishes and thanks to all here. It's been a laugh.
Cheers,
Huw.

For me and for many on the forum Huw has been, and very much is, and I think always will be (such is his legacy of contribution to the place) absolutely of the essence and fabric of the AP forum. The gallery, firstview, an unparalleled knowledge of matters technical...........all these and more were Huw. To loose such a witty, genuine, intelligent, giving and downright nice guy is a terrible wrench to us all who have come to know and look forward to the inimitable style and unique contribution that Huw brought to the AP boards.
