    And there we have it... as I always said, at the expense of being branded racist, the current crop of terrorists aren't white middle to old aged men/ women sometimes wearing flat caps and the police were involved in a PC excercise. Therefore you can see why they are loated to drop this little PC game.

    I loved this bit - 'Supporters say such powers can make it harder for extremists to carry out reconnaissance in public areas, such as near important tourist attractions.

    The Metropolitan Police used them 170,000 times during 2008, according to figures previously obtained by BBC London.

    But in the strongest criticisms Lord Carlile has ever made of the use of the powers, the peer said that none of the stops in London or elsewhere had led to a conviction.'

    I'm surprised Rupert Grey has the temerity to comment after what he said last time - Carlile has basically flatly contradicted his reading of the law, and come up with an entirely common-sense view.
