Is Akira Watanabe telling enthusiasts to wait a while?
The first offering is not quite what I want. It isn't pocketable to start with. Indeed, it seems to be designed as a design statement. It is something you could carry at a social function in full view without looking like a photo nerd. In spite of that, I might buy one of the bloody things if they produce the right lenses. The part of the body carrying the lens flange is too thick. There seems to be 15 mm between the sensitive layer and the back of the camera. Looking and measuring old cameras in my possession I reckon that the Canon Ixus Z90 is about the largest camera and lens that is pocketable. That was a triumph of constrained design, unfortuneately for a doomed format. It has a zoomably optical viewfinder and a very elegant design of flash suitable for fill in.

I'd guess that there are quite a lot of people around here who Watanabe camera designers!
