I wouldn't call it haze, as haze is more general, not so local, and it doesn't look much like flare either. Another possibility - a squadron of squirrels were vigorously shaking that particular branch so it appeared blurred whilst all around was calm.

Yep, I'll go along with that theory...............sounds entirely plausable............though there's a remote possibility that it was just one "super-squirrel" and not a squadron? Anyway, best to always use a "squirrel-light 1A" filter in future to prevent such an occurrence again....................Tanya can lend you one if you want to try it out first!
