canon 450D hunting autofocus

Can anyone help my 450d has suddenly started hunting and will not focus, i have tried different lenses but still get the same problem this is in auto focus not manuel. can anyone advise. Many thanks

Try cleaning the contacts inside the camera mount and see if that improves things.

In manual focus mode do you get correctly focused images when using the AF system for focus confirmation? (You may need to check this with all the AF points in turn). If the images are correctly focussed using this method then the AF system is probably OK and the issue may be one of communication/control between camera and lens(es) - the fact that it occurs with multiple lenses points at the camera more than the optics. Could well be a service centre job I'm afraid...
