    hardware costs

is there any sign of hardware costs returning to the prices of a year ago? explanations were that the weakness of the pound was to blame but its bounced back against the euro and dollar recently.

or is it all down to the strengh of the yen?

The kit comes from Japanese companies, so it's the yen/pound rate that means most.

In another area, Adobe have apparently hiked the price of CS4 in the UK, whilst reducing the cost in continental Europe. They claim it's for exchange rate reasons.

It could be a good reason for Britain to have the euro

You know what Frank1, I hate to admit it but I was thinking just that. Now is not the time though, god knows how but they need to get some value back into the pound, we should have joined at £ = Euro 1.70 not at near parity.

I believe mosy Japanese imports arrive in Europe first and are paid for in Euros, then re-imported here and paid for in Pounds, so we get a double wammey.

Not from a photographic website nor from the UK, but I've just found this price listed for a 128MB CF memory card - $120.

Goodness me, and I was thinking that I was alone in wanting the Euro - there's hope yet.

    Re: hardware costs

Personally, I would be very unhappy to see either the pound strengthen, or the UK join the Euro. This is, of course, a totally selfish attitude, but as I earn Euros, I have bought some wonderful bargains from the UK over the last four months!
