Panny TZ7 shoots the NYK LINE

This container ship has been standing off Torquay for quite a while now waiting for further orders. Nothing special about the pic. Could easily have been taken from the shore with a DSLR with a 1.4 converter on a 600mm lens...

...however, it was taken with a pocket compact, hand held at 17x magnification. Not too bad considering the image was bouncing about in the viewfinder like nobody's business and I mean bouncing! - Does the IS work? - what do you think

    Panasonic TZ7 review
The camera is 12x zoom at 10mp, but if you drop it to 5mp you get 17x optical zoom - and if you drop it to 3mp, you get 21.4x optical zoom (ideal for web pages etc)

What a great little toy to carry around in your shirt pocket

    Clearly I spoke too soon:

Yes, but this is photographs illustrating the positive impact of container shipping that we're talking about - let's not get carried away here! How many memorable exhibitions of container shipping photographs have you been to? How many photography books have you got on your shelves featuring great container shipping photography of our age?
