Portrait software - is Portrait Professional the best?

I was looking to get the Portrait Professional software as the wife is never happy with how she looks and the kids never seem to smile at the same time.

I have used a trial version (V8) and it doesn't seem to

    a) slim down the face enough (for my wife, lol)
    b) have enough of a manual control over the smile (kids)

Is this the best sw available? Are there other ones out there?

I use Photoshop Elements 4 and can slim pics down as long as the head is straight but can't think of a way a frown can be turned into a smile in it.

    Any tips/help etc appreciated.

There's a few fans of that software here, personally I don't like it and feel it produces fake looking images.

Have a search on the forums for Portrait Professional and see what it brings up.
