compact flash query on Nikon D3

We have bought a new camera ( nikon d3) with compact flash card and it has divided the photo graphs as if there are 2 cards in the camera. The image numbers on the " false" second card are not in numerical order. Can anyone offer any advise why this is happening?

Can you give us some idea of what the filenames are?

Also, what recording settings have you got? RAW+JPEG, RAW only, JPEG only

And what setting have you set for the CF cards? Copy A-B, Use A and then B.

I've got a D3 and never had a problem like this.

Check to see if its set up to record NEF on slot 1 and jpeg on slot 2 cards. If only one card is inserted it may try and split the only card inserted into two partitions.

I think this is a special Nikon two for one offer.
