    Should I keep?

    When doing my band work, I take Minolta F2.8 28mm, Minolta F1.7 50mm and a Sigma F2.8 70-200 lens.

    I have just ordered a Sigma F2.8 24-70mm lens.

Is there any advantage in keeping the F2.8 28mm, as the new lens covers this?
FRIPN. Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Prime lenese are are better than zooms, I'd say hold on and compare.

That depends on the relative age of prime and zoom. Some modern zooms are as good, if not better, than some older prime lenses.

That said, I'd still agree you should keep it, if only for those occasions when you want the focal length, but don't wish to cart a heavy zoom lens about.

I would modify that statement. "I'd say hold on and compare. Then make your own mind up.
Prime lenses used to be better than zooms. You are going to compare an old, but respected prime to a modern fast zoom.

I'll be photographing a band in a couple of weeks. I'll try and take similar pics using both lens, though with the light show bands use nowadays, might be difficult.

I have the 28-70mm version of the lens you are buying and it can get to be a bit of a millstone round the neck after a while...
