my previous post about SONY Raw files:

I shot some RAW pics on my A350 last night. However, Sony's Image Data Converter SR Ver.2 only allows me to adjust the tone curves. I cannot adjust sharpness, saturation etc.

I have version 3 and it allows me to control brightness, white balance,creative style, contrast, dynamic range, highlight colour distortion, colour, peripheral illumination, sharpness, noise reduction, tone curve and display control, but don't ask me what some of those are.

I prefer to use DxO but it does cost.

I prefer to convert to TIFFs and then do the PP in Photoshop or similar but some purists would disagree.
